They wished to remain on the path of their fathers',
Without that of reason,
Without that of proof,
Without that of thought,
They just followed the ways',
Of their forefathers' day.
The proof of Salih's message,
Was evident,
But despite his true call,
Most people refuted him,
Because they thought,
He was charmed.
(And the Islam of today,
We would say,
' they thought he had a Jinn,
Or, evil- magic, resided in him. )
And after time,
They saw,
He would not leave that of God's door, ( metaphorically )
He would not stop,
His holy preaching.
Fearing that his followers' would increase,
They tried to put him off,
By assigning him,
To that of an important task,
To prove that he was a,
Holy messenger,
Sent as a decree,
From Allah,
By performing a miracle.
They ordered that,
If he be true,
A unique,
She camel,
Would issue from the mountains'.
After the torment,
Of salih,
Allah, issued forth,
The she camel,
At their bequest.
The people came out,
And gathered-together,
At their meeting place,
Where the prophet Salih,
Came to address them.
He called unto them,
To believe,
In his call,
And reminded,
Them of the blessings' that did descend.
Then pointing towards',
A rock,
They demanded,
" Ask thy Lord,
'Salih, to make a she camel,
Which must be that,
Of ten months',
Pregnant,
Tall and attractive to the eyes',
Issue it, from the rocks',
For us ".
Salih replied,
" Look now " ,
He did say,
" If Allah brings' for you,
That of what you bequest,
Just as you have describe,
Will you then reside,
In what I call you to,
To worship,
And have faith in the message sent ".
They replied,
" Yes".
So being from a good brother's line,
Salih, betook their oath,
Then prayed to Allah,
To bring forth their request,
So to save them from,
The torment of a painful death.
So Allah,
Who does love his messengers' sent,
Set assunder,
A rock to split,
Bringing forth before their very eyes',
What they desired,
To bring them to Salih's call.
A she camel, ten month's pregnant,
And huge in size,
Attractive to their eyes'.
And even though God did send,
This miracle given,
A wonderful sight,
Dazzling and powerful,
From Allh's holy might.
It was a sure, clear evidence.
A number of Salih's people did believe,
Yet most of them,
Though they witnessed a sure miracle given,
Rejected it,
And continued in their absent ways',
To worship their Gods',
From their forefathers' days'.
